Every year one of my favorite brands, TOMS, puts together a social media campaign called #withoutshoes. While TOMS is already a Buy One, Give One company, this campaign allows you to give a pair of shoes to a child in need simply by sharing a picture in your bare feet, which to me is a no brainer. TOMS has grown to become one of the more established One for One brands, expanding to include sunglasses, bags and apparel. But there are plenty of other One for One companies worth checking out as well, so I’ve put together a list of my favorites!
- Soapbox Soaps
It is crazy to me how many things I take for granted everyday, one of them being clean water and a hot shower. The people at Soapbox are on a mission to help people in need through their One for One program that includes body washes, shampoos, conditioners and lotions. For every product sold, Soapbox will give a bar of soap or a month of clean water to someone in need. I get chills just thinking about how amazing that is. You can visit their website here.
- Good Spread
“Eat well. Do good.” As a fan of all things food related, this company is one of my favorites. Good Spread makes delicious peanut butter and natural honey spreads made from simple, wholesome ingredients. Their peanuts are grown locally in Georgia, turned into delicious peanut butter and mixed with all natural honey. For every Good Spread product purchased, the company provides a packet of RUTF (peanut butter that is filled with essential nutrients) to a child suffering from Severe Acute Malnutrition. 3 servings of RUTF per day for 4-6 weeks showed a 98% reversal of malnutrition in children, which is amazing. You can find Good Spread in specialty grocery stores, or on their website, here.
- Everything Happy
This company’s slogan is simple; one to love, one to give. Designed and inspired by children, Everything Happy sells blankies, stuffed animals, bibs and bags with the intent of bringing a smile to every child—both locally and worldwide. For every item purchased, one is given to a child in need; from orphanages and hospitals, to poverty stricken communities around the globe. I have lots of baby cousins running around in my life, and these would make perfect gifts for the children in yours! You can visit their website here.
- Love Your Melon
This one is near and dear to my heart. Love Your Melon is a company founded in 2012 by two college students taking an entrepreneurship course at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. It started with the simple mission of putting a hat on every child battling cancer in America. Since its creation just 4 short years ago, Love Your Melon has expanded to sell not only beanies, but baseball caps, t-shirts, and bracelets. Their company met with colleges across the country asking if they would like to get involved, and now boasts over 740 college campus ambassadors. One of my close friends started a chapter at my Alma Mater last year and I fell in love with the company. Half of the net proceeds of every Love Your Melon sale goes directly to the Love Your Melon 501(c)(3) non profit partners in the fight against pediatric cancer, and a hat is placed on the head of a child battling cancer. You can find their website here, and be sure to give my Campus Crew a shout out by selecting Union College Campus Crew at checkout!
