Checking Into: The Dean Dublin

09/14/2017 1 Comments

I could not be more excited to be in the city of Dublin and the beautiful country of Ireland! It almost feels surreal to be here, but I am so in love with this little corner of the world already. When planning my trip to Dublin I was looking for a hotel that offered a one of a kind experience. Somewhere that served as a reflection of the atmosphere here; quirky, relaxed, and fun. Lucky for me, The Dean hits all the right notes.

The Lobby

Located in the heart of Dublin, this boutique hotel boasts amazing amenities and even more noteworthy decor. Stepping into the lobby you can immediately feel the coolness factor that this special place looks to evoke; dark walls, plush seating, mahogany scented candles, and a neon blue sign above the front desk that reads “I fell in love here” all help to set the tone. With plenty of places to take a seat and relax, the lobby is always a hub of action for guests and visitors.

Sophie’s

Upstairs, Sophie’s Restaurant offers panoramic views of Dublin from its vantage point on the fifth floor. With full breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus, the restaurant brings the same edgy feeling found throughout the building all the way up to the top floor.

The restaurant boasts a wide assortment of dishes and some of the quickest service I’ve ever had. Favorites included the blueberry pancakes with orange butter from their breakfast menu, the crab cake salad for lunch, and any one of their homemade wood fired pizza’s for dinner (though the prosciutto pizza is an A+)! Outside on the terrace, guests can cozy up and enjoy the view on one of the lounge chairs or beds with a drink in hand.

The Room

The Dean Dublin offers six types of rooms to choose from. From the small and cozy “mod pod” to their spacious penthouses, each room offers plenty of comfort and personality. We stayed in a “Hi-Fi” room located on the fourth floor. The room offers amazing duel aspect views of the city to relax and take it all in. With a fully stocked Munchie Bar at the door and a fun orange mini fridge filled with drinks, this place is the ultimate hang out.

Local Charm

On every wall in The Dean you can find a quirky piece of artwork created by a local Irish artist. All of the pieces are for sale and help to promote the art scene in the city, which I loved. The hotel is a major partner for the Irish Museum of Modern Art, but there are nods to keeping things local found all around the hotel. Nearly everything you see is available for purchase, from the bed to the pencils. The shampoo & conditioner are offered by the local Grafton Barber, whose shop is just steps away on the infamous Grafton Street featured in Ed Sheeran’s “Galway Girl.”

General consensus? I didn’t want to leave. This hotel was packed with personality and made our stay what it was. Close to all of the major sightseeing spots, the location is hard to beat. While the hotel does warn that it can get loud at night (it is surrounded by nightclubs), I never had trouble sleeping here. They offer ear plugs for those who may need them, but do keep in mind that this place is definitely designed for a younger crowd.

The food at Sophie’s was excellent. So good, in fact, that we elected to eat in instead of venture out for most nights. Best of all? The price is right. We booked ahead of time through a third party and snagged our room for $170.00 per night for 4 nights. Not too shabby when you get all of this along with it!

Thank you to The Dean for a fabulous stay!

Happy Travels!

xx Kelly
