Exploring Downtown Calgary

03/28/2017 0 Comments

Nestled in the heart of “Big Sky Country” is the beautiful city of Calgary, Alberta. Nicknamed “Cowtown”, Calgary is chalk full of life and western charm. The city is the home of the Calgary Stampede, a rodeo and music festival that takes place each year in July, and an hour drive from the Canadian Rockies. I was lucky enough to spend the first day of my trip exploring the many streets and sights this vibrant city has to offer.

Our first stop was the Bow, a crescent shaped skyscraper in the business district. Here you will find the enormous, 12-meter tall art installation known as “Wonderland”. From there we walked to the Calgary Tower and headed all the way up to the top floor. From this vantage point you can see the mountains in the distance and check out Calgary from 626 feet up.  One of my favorite spots was Stephen Ave, an outdoor pedestrian mall filled with street art, tasty restaurants and plenty of shopping options. We grabbed lunch at Local (you have to try the Press Burger!) before making our way to the Peace Bridge.

It was a beautiful day in a wonderful city. I took plenty of photos to share, I hope you enjoy them!

xx Kelly
